Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District is in the process of planning for the 2008-2009 school year. Part of the planning involves completing enrollment projections so our schools can be staffed with the appropriate number of teachers and other support personnel.

The Board of Education has approved expanding Joe Michell Elementary School to a K-6 program in the 2008-2009 school year with the possibility of expanding to a K-8 program in future years. Conversion to the K-6 configuration would commence in August 2008, with the site’s previous year’s fifth graders having first priority to remain as sixth graders.

To date 70 students have committed to enroll in grade six for 2008-2009 at Michell. We have room for only 11 more students in the grade six program. Signing the letter of intent below is a commitment that your grade six child(ren) will attend Michell in the fall.

We will be having a 6^th grade Registration & Orientation Night on Friday, April 4. A PTO sponsored dinner will be from 5:45 to 6:30 pm and an orientation program will be from 6:45 to 7:30 pm.

If you would like your child(ren) to attend the K-6 program in the 2008-2009 school year, please complete the bottom portion of this letter and return it to Joe Michell School, 1001 Elaine Ave., Livermore or fax it to the school at (925) 606-3349.
